Where is Kunya?

Kunya is a village area near the Equator in western Kenya, on the shore of Lake Victoria. It is a collection of small farms and clusters of homes scattered over about six square miles; its population is about 5,000. The people work small farms, and some fish from the lake. They eat most of what they raise or catch; they sell any excess, but incomes average less than (US)$1 per day.

Their tribe and language are Luo. About 90% are Protestant.

Kunya has one of the highest AIDS rates in the world---nearly 40%---and a very high infant mortality.
